PURCHASING DEPARTMENT


 

The Bolivar County Purchasing Department handles all purchasing for the Board of Supervisors and County offices.  We are responsible for the procurement of commodities, equipment, and services at the lowest and best costs consistent with the item's current economic conditions and in conformance with "State Purchasing Laws." The Purchasing Department is staffed by two procurement officers who are committed to timely acquisition of quality products and services required to support the county's needs.

 

 

The County has centralized procurement authority under the Office of the Purchasing Agent.  These are the purchasing guidelines:

 

$0-5,000.00- Quotes may be obtained but aren't required

 

$5,001-25,000- At least two written competitive quotes are required

 

$25,001 & Above- Bid process including public advertising

and Posts, and Used Gas Line Pipe.  The current 6 month period will end September 19th, 2005.  For the period beginning September 20th, 2005, bids will be advertised the second and third weeks of August.  Bids will be accepted from then until 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 6, 2005. 

 

Six month term bids, as well as purchases for more than $15,000, may be made from the lowest and best bidder after advertising for competitive sealed bids once each week for two (2) consecutive weeks, in the local newspaper (The Bolivar Commercial).  The date as published for the bid opening shall not be less than seven (7) working days after the last published notice; however, if the purchase involves a construction project in which the estimated cost is in excess of Fifteen Thousand Dollars ($15,000.00), such bids shall not be opened in less than fifteen (15) working days after the last notice is published.
