American Red Cross

Last year was a record year for responding to disasters, large and small. From floods and tornadoes to wildfires and residential fires…from hurricanes that devastated entire communities throughout the southeast U.S. to a catastrophic earthquake and tsunami that roared through southern Asia and eastern Africa countries destroying lives, families, homes and livelihoods.

Because of the public’s generous support the American Red Cross has been able to respond immediately whether the need was around the corner or halfway around the world...

Foundation for the Mid South

The Foundation for the Mid South invests in people and strategies that build philanthropy and promote racial, social, and economic equity in Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi.

The Foundation for the Mid South works to build the communities resources and leadership of Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi through change strategies based on regional cooperation. It does so by using private philanthropic resources to fund, develop, and promote programs in our current areas of interest including education, economic development, and families and children.

In each of these areas, the Foundation for the Mid South makes grants, hosts training sessions and seminars, provides technical assistance, and brings people and organizations together to form networks, collaborations, and partnerships throughout the region.

Habitat for Humanities

For over 25 years, Habitat for Humanity has helped low-income families reach their dreams of a place to call home. Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, Habitat constructs and rehabilitates simple, decent houses with the help of the homeowner-partner families. Habitat houses are sold to these families at no profit and financed with affordable, no-interest loans. The homeowners' monthly mortgage payments are used to build even more Habitat houses.
Join Habitat for Humanity today in our mission to end poverty housing in the U.S. and around the world. Make an online donation and you can provide those in need with the opportunity to build their future.

Literacy Council

Thanks to funding from public and private sources, construction and renovation of the Cleveland Depot Library began in 2002.  The new Cleveland Depot Library, a 5,500 square foot facility, completely encompasses the original 1,500 square foot facility, and offers three computer labs, three classrooms, and twenty-four programs to serve the residents of Cleveland and Bolivar County.

United Way

A Community-Based National Movement
United Ways across the country activate community resources to make the greatest possible human impact. The United Way system includes approximately 1,400 community-based United Way organizations. Each is independent, separately incorporated and governed by local volunteers.

As community leaders, United Ways address the most critical local issues and mobilize resources beyond the dollars that are pledged through their fund-raising efforts. Community partners often include schools, government policy makers, businesses, organized labor, financial institutions, voluntary and neighborhood associations, community development corporations and the faith community
